Read a book, take a bike ride, play a game, shoot some hoops, call old friends, meditate, do volunteer work or find some other activity that doesn’t add to the waste in our garbage dumps, exploit workers in the developing world or contribute further to the mountains of consumer debt so many struggle with.

In these tough economic times you may be worried about participating. Rest assured, this one day won’t bring our economy to a grinding halt, but it will help all of us to step back and think about our spending and they fury we are whipped into this time of year, and that is a good thing.
