I’d been waiting for the November 2 show at Brighton Music Hall with great anticipation since I first heard that David Ramirez would be opening for Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors and I’d be able to see them both the on the same bill. In many ways the two acts provide a study in contrasting music styles. Ramirez was accompanied only by a pedal steal guitarist, and his songs were generally more somber, than those of Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors, who played hopeful, upbeat tunes. In fact the songs of David Ramirez are more hopeful than his calm demeanor might suggest; and the songs of Drew Holcomb are solid tunes that don’t shy away from serious topics, either. Both are among the best songwriters working today!
It was a great show, at one of my favorite venues in Boston. Check out the gallery below, followed by a couple videos from the artists. I’d like to know what you think!
