Some Music

* Alison Kruass, A Hundred Miles or More
I don’t know what it is about Alison Krauss that I like so much. Maybe it is her haunting voice and the way she often so breathily just barely reaches the notes, maybe it is the masterful arrangements. But this is a wonderful collection.
*Benjamin Doerr, Sketches of a Real Life
I first heard this in a Seattle Cafe about a year ago and I kinda liked it. I thought about buying his CD then, but didn’t. Today I stumbled across his MySpace profile and decided to check out the CD because I liked the humble description he wrote under next to “sounds like”

a singing guy with a guitar, but a different guy, singing different stuff with a different guitar
His description kind of hits the nail on the head. Familiar in a way, but different and exciting in another. This is definitely worth a listen. PS-If you are wondering why the AMAZON links, it is because purchases made through them go to support the Tangier American Legation Museum.
